Kudrin says new Western sanctions may shock Russian economy
MOSCOW, Feb 19 (PRIME) -- Russia has adapted to the existing sanctions, but new Western sanctions may shock the Russian economy, which would have to go through adaptation again, Head of the Audit Chamber Alexei Kudrin told reporters on Tuesday.
“We’ve really adapted to a certain level of sanctions. Unfortunately, any new sanctions will cause new shocks and will demand new adaptation. They may be much tougher than what we have now…The economy has already absorbed the sanctions that have been imposed. Our companies have got adjusted to that,” he said.
Nevertheless, the sanctions dwarf economic growth, which is sensitive to external sanctions due to a large amount of technological imports, he said.
